Strength / Resistance

A common misconception is that weight bearing will lead to only one outcome of bigger muscle - Hypertrophy. But this is however not the only result and this is something I hear and bear in mind, especially working with women and keep our general needs / wants in mind.

At Fitness with Shirley the term strength training and resistance train are used interchangeably because both work our muscles against some form of resistance putting an increase demand on the muscle , which results in getting stronger .

Strength training can be particularly vital in helping us to stay active, build, maintain stronger muscles and bones, prevent falls and osteoporosis, boosts heart health, improve your mood and metal health well being .

Overall helps us to enjoy a better quality of life especially as we age .
